Composition: Calcium magnesium iron silicate hydroxide
Nomenclature: Named after the Greek word "nephriticus" which means "kidney stone" because of its historical use as a remedy for kidney disease.
Industrial Uses: Gemstones, ornamental stones, carvings.
Additional Notes: A variety of the mineral actinolite. One of two minerals frequently referred to as "jade" (the other mineral being jadeite).
