Nomenclature: Named from the Greek word "skolec" which means "worm," a reference to the mineral's reaction to a blowpipe flame.
Industrial Uses: Chemical filters.
Additional Notes: Scolecite is a member of the Zeolite group of minerals, and forms inside the bubble-voids within volcanic rocks.
