Composition: Arsenic sulfide
Nomenclature: Named after the Latin word auripigmentum which means "gold paint" because of its color.
Industrial Uses: Arsenic ore.
Additional Notes: Also referred to as auripigment in some counties. Orpiment is an alteration product of the mineral realgar, which is another arsenic sulfide and which is red in color.
